Buying Magic - Some Things To Bear In Mind When You Buy Magic Tricks

At some point, you will end up buying magical items, whether that be tricks, books or videos, probably from Magic Dealers, so this page offers a few hints and tips to make sure that you buy wisely.

Hints and tips for buying magic tricks

Firstly, it is important to realise that, when you buy a magic trick, you are often paying for the secret. This is why some magic tricks seem expensive when you look at the props you receive. (This also touches on the subject of Ethics.).

Secondly, however much you like seeing a new magic trick demonstrated, do bear in mind, before you buy it, questions such as:

 • Does this effect suit my style and performing character, and if not, could I alter the presentation so that it does?

• Does it look like it could be performed in situations that would be appropriate to me (e.g. does the effect have to be performed at a table whereas you perform standing up)?

• Is it too similar to another trick that I already perform and, if so, should I stop performing the existing trick (since you shouldn’t perform too many tricks that are similar to each other in one routine or act)?

Thirdly, do consider buying some of the classic books on magic, since they will typically offer much better value in the long run than spending the equivalent money on one or two tricks.

Fourthly, when you do buy a magic trick, try to read the instructions with a view to understanding and learning how to perform the trick, but do try to ignore any presentation and patter that is supplied with the trick.

If you can provide your own presentation and patter, then you can be sure that nobody else will be performing that trick quite like you do.

Buy Magic Tricks and Learn How They Do It

Most of us have already been fooled by someone playing a trick on us and its generally a bad experience when it happens to us. But there are other tricks that are funny and entertaining. It’s really fun being fooled watching magic tricks for instance.

Buy Magic Tricks & amaze your friendsThe word trick can be good or bad depending on how you describe it. You can be tricked by your friend playing around with your girl or you can be tricked by an individual that somehow amazes you with the magic he performed.

Magic tricks are the type of tricks that most people loved to watch. A lot of viewers look amazed while others are curious how this guy performs such tricks without being caught out. Well, if you are the magician that is the thing that you should take care of.

Almost all magic tricks are hard to learn, knowing that you can be caught by someone if you haven’t performed it well. And in fairness to all magicians out there, you guys rock, fooling us with your magic tricks. But sad to say there are things that you can hide from us and to those people who are curious about this then its time to have at least a glimpse into how magicians prepare to fool us in front of our eyes.

In preparing for a magic show, before a magician enters and shows up to the crowd, he’s already set up his mind that what he will do will make us believe in magic. But prior to his performance, there are a series of practice steps needed to do to perfect a single trick that will last for about 5 to 10 minutes, but usually it can be done in a minute. Of course magicians need to create some suspense with his audience and create excitement for his viewers.

But above all the audience should be entertained and have a sense of surprise and amazement. The magicians should learn how to communicate with their audience and somehow make them involved in the show. This is where a good performance is being made. It doesn’t matter how hard or complicated the magic is, what is important is to put some excitement into the performance and surprise the audience with unexpected results but behind the performance is just a simple trick that if discovered it will spoil the suspense and fun.

Magic tricks are tricks that everyone will really love, and so the magician who performs to a big crowd started learning magic with simple tricks and learned more complicated tricks until mastering each of them and established a name in the field of magic.

The Magic Circle - The Home of Magic

Surely the highest honour for which every magician strives is to become a member of The Magic Circle, but it is not as simple as just applying for your membership and paying your subscription.

The magic circle - The home of magic tricks

The easy part is that you have to be over eighteen years of age, after that you have to have two existing members of the society (known as referees) put your name forward to the committee for consideration. You then have to perform a magic act in front of the committee which must show a required level of skill.

If you apply as a student of magic a lower level of skill will be accepted if you can show that you have the potential to take your art to the required standard with regular practice. After that a meeting will be held by the committee to decide on whether you will be accepted.

The Magic Circle was founded back in 1905 in London by a group of like minded gentlemen with a shared interest in magic, they all knew some magic but they couldn’t figure out how to do each others tricks so they agreed that they would show each other their tricks as long as what they learned was kept a secret, The Magic Circle was born.

Back then the society consisted of only about 23 members who met regularly in the upstairs room of a London pub called The Green Man.

Today The Magic Circle has members spanning the world in over forty different countries with magicians everywhere entertaining and baffling people with everything from card tricks and coin tricks to unbelievable illusions such as making the statue of liberty disappear, which by the way is an illusion I can perform myself but I am sorry to disappoint you that I am not about to break the code of The Magic Circle.

The Headquarters of The Magic Circle is in central London. In it you will find a museum, a dining room, a bar, a theatre, and a library with generously stocked book shelves.

The Magic Circle just like any other recognized organization has its own motto, “Indocilis privata loquin” which is Latin, and when roughly translated reads as “not apt to disclose secrets”. Members take the vow to honour this motto and to this day anyone breaking is instantly expelled from the society in shame.

If you are fortunate enough to be accepted into The Magic Circle you will have the honour of being able to place the letters MMC (member of the magic circle) after your name and if you wish to take things even further you may want to take advanced exams in the subject of magic.Successful applicants gain a degree in the subject which brings with it the reward of being able to place the letters MIMC (member of the inner magic circle) after their name.

I hope you make it into The Magic Circle one day, good luck and remember that constant regular practice will eventually get you to where you want to be, just like magic, and always keep looking for that next trick or it will vanish in a puff of smoke.

Check out our magic tricks that you can learn yourself.
